SDMAP routinely practices the way that industry works to coordinate a unified response to emergency events.
The exercise allows us to assess and improve our emergency response plans, leverage best practices and strengthen our working relationship with industry and emergency response partners within Strathcona County and the City of Edmonton. Members of industry, government, RCMP and Alberta Health Services work together to continuously improve unified emergency response and management.
Every three years these practices culminate in a Live Event Full-scale simulation. 2021’s event simulated a fully engaged tank fire. Mutual aid resources are required, including foam and portable foam suppression systems. A staging area is set up, a mobile command centre with EOC is established and is in constant contact with the Incident Commander on site. SDMAP is engaged to support a successful response.
